영어 읽기의 가장 기초는 phoneme 이겠죠. 구글을 해보니 Phoneme은 한국어로 "낱소리 또는 음소(Phoneme, 音素)는 소리 내는 언어의 낱말을 구분시켜주는 이론적인 낱낱의 소리이다."라고 돼있네요. 영어의 알파벳은 26개죠 하지만 그럼 소리도 26면 좋겠는데, 26개에의 알파벳이 내는 소리는 40개의 소리가 넘어요. 5개밖에 안 되는 Vowel (a, e, i, o, u)에서 20개의 소리가 나니 영어 읽기가 힘들죠. 제가 어릴 땐 알파벳 name만 노래를 부르며 배웠는데, 그럼 읽기 교육이 거이 불가능한 거죠. 요즘 미국 초등교육 과정에서는 Alphabet letter sound를 아이들에게 먼저 가르칩니다. 영어실력이 늘지 않는 이유에 대해 많이 생각해 보셨을 거고, 저 또한 수도 없이 생각해 봤습니다. 답을 찾으신 분들도 있으실 거고, 아직 모르는 분들도 있겠죠. 전 영어 공부를 계속하면, 많이 생각해 보았고 답을 찾은 았습니다. 제 영어 실력이 늘지 않는 이유. 여러 가지 이유가 있겠죠. 1. 조금 늘을 만하면 그만 둔다.(꾸준히 못함) 2. 기초가 약해 다음 레벨로 올라가지 못하는거죠.
