Preposition (전치사)

전치사란 (what is a preposition?):  preposition is the words that show the relationship between a noun (pronoun) and other words in the sentences. 

 

전치사란 문장에서 명사(명사절)와 나머지 문장을 연결해 주는 다리 역할을 합니다.

예문:  I usually have lunch at the school cafeteria.

 

전치사는 장소, 시간, 위치 또는 수단 (방법)을 말해줍니다.

Preposition talks about place, time, and method in a sentence.

 

장소를 나타내는 전치사 (Preposition of Place): refers to a place where something or someone is located.

above	behind	at

예문:  We strolled around the campus.

시간을 나타내는 전치사 (Preposition of Time): talks about time

at  Precise Time	in  Months, years, centuries, and long periods	on  Days and Dates
at 5 o’clock	in January	on Saturday
at lunchtime	in 2021	on Thanksgiving day

예문:  We will have a family dinner on Thanksgiving day.

 

수단/방법을 나타내는 전치사 (Preposition of Method and Manner): explain in what way something has been done. 

by  to express actions and it is followed by the  gerund (verb + -ing) or a noun	with  refer to the object that we use to do something.
I got a good grade by reading the book.	She fixed the table with a super glue.

예문:  He earned money by painting.

          I like pasta with tomato sauce.
