매일 공부 Day 34:  

어제 Prisoners of Geograph 는 어제 끝났고 오늘은 제가 듣고 있는 online class에서 읽어야 할 Article 있어서 읽고 summary 해 볼려고 합니다. 이번주 숙제 할게 많아서요. 빨리 읽을 거 읽고 준비 해서 paper를 써야 해서요.

제가 이번에 듣는 수업이 Assessment에 관한 수업이라 이번에 읽은 Article도  Assessment에 관한 건데, 특히 이번 글은 21st Century

Skills Assessment. 왜 현재 교육에 시행되는 시험들이 21세기에 사는 학생들에 맞게 바꿔야하고, 어떻게 바꿔야 하는지 애기 하고 있습니다,

간단히 정리 해 보겠습니다. 

Why do we need assessments of 21st century skills?

The article says, " Student assessment, whether by standardized tests or classroom-based measures, is the cornerstone of effective teaching and learning. Taken as a whole, good assessments can not only provide a reliable and valid measure of a student's learning and understanding, but also help guide both teachers and students on a day-to-day basis.

However, current high-stakes assessment focuses on measuring students' ability to recall discrete facts using multiple choice. The tests do not require students' creativity, critical thinking, or problem-solving tasks. 

Today, we need to provide students with the assessment that helps our students ready for the technology-infused 21st century workplaces. According to the article, "current assessment landscape is replete with assessments that measure knowledge of core content areas such as language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, there is a comparative lack of assessments and analyses focused on 21 st century skill."

Meeting the demands of today's world requires a shift in assessment strategies to measure the skills now prized in a complex global environment. The Partnership for 21st Century Skills believes that such a shift is vital to the widespread adoption of 21st century skills in our schools.  We must move from primarily measuring discrete knowledge to measuring students' ability to think critically, examine problems, gather information, and make informed, reasoned decisions while using technology. 

In addition to posing real world challenges, such assessments should accept a range of solutions to a task. For example, one possible assessment of 21st century skills would focus more on a student's operational skills, such as her expertise in using multiple sources appropriately and efficiently, tather than on whether or no correct response was submitted. 

Article 에서 중요한 부분만 추려 봤고요. 포인트는 지금 미국에서 행해지는 state test가있는 얼마나 21세기 교육과 동떨어져있는지 애기하고, 학생들이 21세기에 필요한 요원으로 교육시키 위해서 시험이 실생활에 관계 없는 지식을 외워서 사지 선답으로 행해지는 시험에서 벗어나 답이 맞고 틀린게 없는 자신의 생각과 지적 능력을 향상하고 실생활에 적용할 하고 Technology를 사용 하는 그런 시험을 만들어 아이들에게 주어야 21 세기에 준비된 학생들을 배출 할 수 있다고 애기하네요.
